ABOUT DAVID

David Farren is a painter of street scenes and landscapes living in France.

I was born in 1972 in Wiltshire and now live in the Perigord region of south west France with my family.

I have worked as a professional artist since 2000 and in that time have exhibited my paintings in leading galleries across the UK including solo shows in London, Manchester, Edinburgh and Dublin.

I am fascinated by the changing light within a scene and how it determines the mood of a place at a particular time - be it a busy London street or a quiet corner of France.

The painting process often begins with taking a walk and using my sketchbook to record ideas. I enjoy painting en plein air -mostly small studies that I can complete in one session -these then inform the larger studio works.

My paintings are held in private collections in Britain, France, USA and Ireland. My work has featured in Paint and Draw magazine ,The Artist magazine, Be Artist magazine, The One Show and France 3 Perigord.

Je suis artiste professionnel depuis presque vingt ans et mes oeuvres sont exposés dans de nombreuses galeries au Royaume-Uni et ailleurs. Je suis connu en Angleterre surtout pour les oeuvres de style urbain comme j’adore capturer des moments et l’ambiance des villes - que ce soit Paris, Londres, New York ou Bordeaux.

Après m’être installé dans la région du Périgord avec ma famille en 2014, je me suis inspiré de la beauté ce qui m’entoure, c’est à dire le paysage magnifique ou les petites places de Périgueux.

Mon objectif est de toujours saisir le changement de la lumière et de capturer l’ambiance particulière d’une scène.
